Sama Chakewa festival is an important festival celebrated by women of Mithila region especially Tharu, Madhesi, and Maithili communities. In this festival especially sisters pray to their brothers wishing them long life and success. Sama Chakewa is worshiped by making an idol, decorating it and singing songs. This festival is especially celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Kartik.
